The Childless Collective Summit is a virtual, four-day gathering to support individuals as they navigate grief, find joy, make connections, and embrace their unexpectedly childless lives. While this will be our third time hosting this event, your contributions will make this year’s totally unique! Thank you for joining us to create something truly special for our community. We’re excited to collaborate with you.
On this page, you’ll find resources to make your life as a speaker easy and answer questions you may have. If you run into a question we didn’t answer, reach out at Katy@ChildlessCollective.com.
We can’t host this event without you and are dedicated to ensuring you enjoy the process and benefit from participating. Your experience is our top priority!
As a speaker you’ll receive:
Let’s get into some details. Here’s how the Childless Collective Summit will work:
The event will run from December 2 – 5. Most presentations will be pre-recorded, and between 20-30 minutes in length (unless we’ve previously agreed upon a different format). If you are a service provider for the childless community, your presentation can include the promotion of a related freebie to help you build your email list.
Each day’s presentations will be free for attendees to view for 24 hours. In addition to the pre-recorded presentations, we’ll host some live sessions throughout the event. We’ll also have an attendee community (hosted on Mighty Networks) to bring everyone together to chat about sessions and connect during the event.
We know you’re busy, so there won’t be a scheduled live component for this event. Instead, we’ll have a dedicated thread for each presentation in the summit’s online community (hosted on Mighty Networks). This is where attendees can go to ask questions and let you know how much they loved your talk! We do ask that you check in a time or two during the time period that your presentation is live if you’re available. It’s a great chance to engage with the attendees, answer simple questions, and point them to additional resources you have.
Leading up to the summit, we’ll have about three weeks of promotion. Feedback from previous attendees shows how impactful this event can be, so we also want as many people as possible to benefit from the collective wisdom that’s shared over these four days! We appreciate any support you can offer with promotion.
For speakers who have an email list, we ask that you promote at least once via email. We also ask that you post at least once on social media (not an expectation if you only have personal social media accounts that aren’t focused on being childless). We’ll provide swipe copy and graphics to make it all easy. Additional promotion is totally up to you and much appreciated!
During the promotion phase and as the summit is running, we’ll promote the Pace Yourself Pass, which includes: extended access to the presentation replays; extra live sessions; and some additional bonuses. This pass offers a great way for attendees to have more time with the summit content, and creates the revenue we need to compensate speakers and keep this event sustainable to run.
If you choose to participate in the affiliate program, you’ll also have the opportunity to make extra money through referrals. You can learn more about this program and if it sounds like a fit for you under the “Affiliate Details” section below.
Now that you’ve got the basic rundown for the event, here’s what I’ll need from you as a speaker.
First, we’ll gather some basic information from you so we can finalize the registration and speaker pages for the event website. You can submit your information here.
You’ll also review and sign a speaker agreement, which outlines your participation in the summit and what we’re providing in return. Sign your speaker agreement here.
Your basic info and signed speaker agreement are due by October 22.
We’ve included a few tips below, but if you’d like a more comprehensive guide that includes additional information on format, planning your presentation, tips for inclusivity, recording and editing your presentation, plus tech recommendations, we’ve got you! CLICK HERE TO VIEW THE GUIDE
Next is your presentation! For most speakers, this is a 20-30 minute pre-recorded presentation that’s meant to be more friendly and casual than perfect and structured. Our hope is that attendees feel supported and validated, while also having new tools, resources and/or information they can take with them.
For pre-recorded presentations, you can choose to present with or without slides, depending on which is a better fit for the content you’re presenting. Pre-recorded videos should be finalized versions, with any necessary edits already made.
If we’ve previously agreed upon a different type of format, like an interview or live session, we’ll reach out to you individually to coordinate.
While there is no expectation that videos will look professionally recorded, we do want to ensure that your video and audio are clear and look and sound good. If you’re new to recording, we recommend spending some time looking up basic tips for lighting and set up to improve your videos. This one offers good starter tips for lighting and angles! If you’re testing out recording and finding the video or audio isn’t turning out well, try Googling solutions as there is a ton of content out there for beginners. Or, reach out to us at Katy@ChildlessCollective.com so we can help you troubleshoot.
You are free to use your presentation however you’d like once the summit has concluded.
Your presentation should be engaging and provide ideas for how they can implement what they’ve learned. Here’s the suggested format:
Submit your presentation and, if applicable, your freebie and/or pass contribution here. Presentations are due by November 7.
While the summit is free to attend, we also sell a Pace Yourself Pass to attendees that extends access to the presentations for a full year and includes some extra bonuses. The revenue from pass sales is how we pay all of our speakers and keep the event sustainable to run each year. We know that a lot of the work done in this community goes unpaid. Paying speakers is one of the values we’ve built into our work and we’re proud to have paid out over $15,000 to speakers from our community over the past two years.
If you are a business owner or service provider in the childless community, you have the option to contribute a bonus to the Pace Yourself Pass. Speaker contributions make it even more valuable for those who purchase it and they give you an additional way to grow your email list and connect with those who are interested in your offerings.
Contributions include things like:
Note: There may be a few hundred people who purchase the pass. Please don’t contribute anything that requires 1:1 work (like an individual session).
It’s totally up to you to decide whether you’d like to create something new or provide something you already have. Your contribution will be added to the Pace Yourself Pass and you will receive email addresses from anyone who accesses your contribution.
We cannot accept freebies or percentage-off offers.
Information for these resources is due on November 7. If you’re including a contribution, we’ll ask for the info when submitting your presentation. You can submit everything here.
The power of this event is in its ability to bring so many from our community together at the same time, to talk about the things that are most important to us. Each year, we’ve had close to 3,000 attendees. This isn’t possible without the collaborative effort to get the word out about the event.
We realize that not all of our speakers are public voices for the childless community. However, if you are and have an email list and/or social media accounts related to being childless, we appreciate your help with promotion. Please help us by sharing on social media and/or emailing your list during the promotion period, starting on November 11.
If you participate in the affiliate program, you’ll want to share using your affiliate link (details coming soon) so you can get in on the 50% commission that will come from any Pace Yourself Pass sales.
We’ll make promotion super easy, by providing swipe copy and graphics you can use for social media posts and emails. These will be provided to you prior to promotion, along with a calendar for suggested days to promote.
And last comes participation during the week of the event. Since we’ll already have done the work of creating the presentations (unless you’re part of a live session) and extra resources, we’ll be able to sit back and relax for the most part!
In previous years, we’ve asked speakers to attend their presentation time to participate in the live chat. We’re doing things a bit differently this year. Instead of having a schedule each day, attendees can watch the presentations they’re interested in at any time during the day. In lieu of the live chat, we’ll ask attendees to spend more time in the Mighty Networks community, where we’ll have chat areas set up for each presentation.
If you’re available on the day of your presentation, we’d love for you to check in on the chat a few times throughout the day to engage with attendees.
We know that the magic of our annual summit comes from our speakers. We appreciate all the time, effort, and sharing of knowledge that goes into your participation.
That’s exactly why we’ve set up an affiliate program for the Pace Yourself Pass where you’ll receive a 50% commission from all sales from traffic you refer to the event. This is an extra way for us to distribute some of the event revenue back to speakers.
The affiliate program is optional and open to all speakers. However, it’s most beneficial for business owners, service providers or content creators in the childless community – since it does rely on having people to promote to. If you aren’t sure if you’d like to participate in the affiliate program, feel free to reach out to Katy@ChildlessCollective.com for more information. You can find additional information about the program and if it’s a fit for you here.
For those who do participate, all payouts will be made by December 31, 2023.
To make it as easy as possible for you to generate extra income, the Resource Vault will includes things like email swipe copy, social media copy, and social share graphics. However, you’re more than welcome to write your own copy.
Just remember to use your affiliate link, which you can create below.
As with all affiliate promotions, be sure to disclose that you’re an affiliate when sharing with your network.
Now for those resources we promised to make promotion as easy as possible.
And in case you don’t want to dig through a folder, you can find the direct links below.
I know that was a ton of info to cover – thank you for making it this far!
